Metadata

Looking for something specific? Each artifact has specific metadata classifications. You can find identifier number, title, identifier number, date, people, retrieved from, medium, materials, and context. If a field is left blank it is because it does not apply to that particular artifact. If a field is marked unknown that means the information would apply to that artifact but that I cannot find the information for it at this point.

Welcome to the archive of a hidden pearl: Dog Island, Florida.

In the early 1970's my grandparents bought a house on the desolate island off of the coast of Carabelle, Florida. The island can only be accessed by boat and the nearest store is on the mainland.

After I was born in 1995, this started the time where I spent most of my early years and nearly every summer visiting my grandparents. Through this I have come to know Dog Island as not just a special place to me, but a special place in itself.

The purpose of creating this archive is to collect, organize, and describe artifacts which embody what Dog Island means to my family and I. You will find a range of artifacts along with a piece of context that describes what it represents about our experiences. The purpose for the future is to collect, organize, and describe what others have experienced with Dog Island in an effort to archive a more expanded perspective of this island and other's experiences with it.
